 Get to know me

Hi, I’m Corrin

The face behind The Long Island Doula! I’ve always been drawn to pregnant women. I feel a strong desire to care for them, support them, and guide them through their journey into Motherhood. I am fascinated with pregnancy and have a strong passion for labor and delivery more so now through the experiences of birthing my own two children. I truly believe my calling in life is to support expecting mothers through pregnancy, labor & delivery, and beyond.

I’ve always been maternal by nature and knew that I was destined to be a Mother someday. That day came on October 17, 2014 when I gave birth to my incredible daughter Cora Rose. While pregnancy wasn’t as I had imagined (I has so much morning sickness {A.K.A. all day sickness} along with some minor complications) labor and delivery was the most incredible experience for me. It was by far the hardest thing I had ever done while at the same time the most amazing experience of my life.

Since then I was pregnant two more times—one made it earth side, Taj—my light, born on June 9, 2018, while one remains in the stars (my Juney babe). Being a mother has been my most incredible adventure and I look forward to helping women along their journey to becoming a mom.

The benefits of hiring a

Birth Doula

01. Prenatal Coaching/Education

Having a doula throughout the birthing process is very helpful, especially to first time moms. As a trained doula, I help families become familiar with evidence-based resources/information so that they can ask their providers great questions regarding their pregnancies, labors, and deliveries. In turn, this allows mom to make informed decisions when it comes to their birthing journey. I am here to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding your birthing goal(s). As your doula, I am full of knowledge from both an educational standpoint as well as a personal one.

02. Physical, Emotional, and Partner Support

Doulas are trained to provide you with position ideas for both comfort and labor progression, including hands on techniques such as massage, counter pressure, breathing techniques, and other ‘doula magic’.

Doulas help families feel supported, help to ease anxieties that come with the experience of birth, and help to create a safe place to allow mom to labor as she pleases. Doulas are there to support and nurture moms through this incredible time in their lives.

As a doula I think it is very important to include the partner throughout the birthing process. Whomever the birth partner is; a romantic partner, a friend, a family member, etc., I like to involve them in the labor process with however much they’d like. That looks different for everyone—some partners like to help with the hands on techniques while others feel their role is better for the emotional support they can offer mom. Physical and emotional support make a huge difference for everyone involved.

03. Postpartum Education and Support

Postpartum doulas are trained to understand what moms and babies truly need. A doula can help with soothing techniques, offer breastfeeding or bottle fed support, and education on newborns, normal behavior.

As a PP doula, my job is to help the day go by more smoothly, whether that be helping with baby’s laundry, doing the dishes, or preparing meals for mama and family.

The transition into motherhood can be very vulnerable, and a postpartum doula is right there to offer emotional support, be an active listener, and encourage new moms to follow their hearts and listen to their maternal intuition.
